Having just returned from the latest ISA trade show in Las Vegas, it’s obvious what the latest trend in digital printing is. If you haven’t seen or heard of UV direct to substrate printing, you will soon. It’s a lot like when the industry went from vinyl cut lettering to digital printing, only better. Not only is time and money saved in media cost and installations, but the final product is perfect.
I’m a little ahead of myself so I should explain, UV Direct to Substrate is a process where we can now print directly to any white flat surface up to 2″ thick. From cardboard to coroplast, acrylic to crezon, the UV ink is perfect for indoor or outdoor applications.
With so many manufacturers offering such different technology, it is amazing how so many printers can hit the market all at once. Everything from 60 sq.ft. an hour up to 2,000 sq.ft. with prices ranging from $200,000 to $1,000,000
The biggest challenge we faced was deciding which printer would be right for our clients needs based on the equipment we already have. In the flatbed UV world it’s all about three things: Speed, Resolution, and Price. Having decided that we were committed to buying one, the only thing left to decide was which one.
Image Digital Printing Ltd. is very excited to announce that we have added a Jeti 3150 UV flatbed to our equipment list. A first in the Canadian market with print capabilities on substrates as large as 5′ x 10′ and print speed as high as 800 sq.ft. /hour. With apparent resolution of 600 dpi, we feel that this machine is the perfect fit . The Jeti 3150UV is not only good for short run single to full colour jobs, but also challenges the screen printing industry with its large run (large size) jobs due to speed and low set-up cost.
The addition of this equipment now gives us the ability to cover just about any size or type of digital print job.

Nov 4 2004 – IDP adds an AquaSEAL AS1600 to its growing equipment list.
posted by admin | News and EventsThu
The AquaSEAL AS1600 is a liquid coater that applies a smooth liquid coating to a wide range of indoor/outdoor materials up to 60″ wide. The process is perfect for adding protection to billboards, banners, vehicle and building graphics, trade show, promotional graphics, and much more.
“The reason we decided to invest in this equipment was to give us the versatility of liquid and film laminating. Certain applications are perfectly suited for a liquid laminate rather than film which extends the lifespan of any print.” Stated Rob Tenwesteneind, a partner at vehiclewraps.ca.
“We can now offer our customers an added value when they purchase banners which can’t be laminated with a film. We can also use liquid laminates on certain fleet applications where it performs better than film.
Depending on your application, gloss and matte finishes are available.
On July 9th, IDP will be moving to their new location. The new address is 1143 Wentworth St W Unit # 100 Oshawa, Ontario L1J 8P7 All phone numbers and email will remain the same.
IDP will be moving into their new location and adding a Jeti 3.3 solvent printer. “To keep up with our growing client base, and to insure that our printing remains timely for our customers, we determined that the Jeti was the system for us. Space was our biggest issue, and so with our new facility opening, we can now add the equipment.” stated Paul Valdstyn.
The Gandi Jeti 3.3 can print a wide variety of media up to 124″ including banners.
